Emergency Services
When the unexpected happens and every second counts, the Greenfield Veterinary Clinic team is ready and equipped to provide your pet with first-class veterinary emergency care.
If you’re unsure whether your pet’s condition is an emergency, call us—our veterinary team can triage your pet over the phone and advise you on next steps. If your pet is in critical condition, our team will be ready to admit your pet when you arrive and begin immediate stabilization. However, because pets are admitted in order of severity, you may have to wait if your pet is stable or non-critical.
Common Pet Emergencies
Here are a few of the emergency conditions we commonly see:
Toxin ingestion
Hit-by-car
Respiratory distress (i.e., difficulty breathing)
Bloat (i.e., gastric dilatation volvulus [GDV])
Urinary obstruction
Bleeding
Unexplained weakness or paralysis
Eye trauma
Dog fight or dog attack
Heat stroke
Collapse or loss of consciousness
Lacerations
Fall from height
Depending on your pet’s status, our team will stabilize your pet, and then advise further work-up or treatment, such as diagnostic testing, advanced imaging, surgery, or hospitalization. If your pet requires a transfer to another facility or a veterinary specialist, we will stabilize them for transport.
